Morning Sing: May 9, 2020

This morning, I’m singing “Evergreen,” the love theme from A Star is Born (the original version). I spent a lot of time on this song in high school, after we sang it in choir, I think, especially, because the piano part is not the easiest and has a lot of chromatic notes. That makes me always pay a bit more attention to what I’m doing.

Also, I love this physical piece of sheet music, because my grandfather wrote “End” 6 bars before the actual end of the piece. Most often, he played organ/piano without a singer, so the long playout with chord changes would have been boring for his audience. It’s just a great reminder of how often I heard him play and what he did to make things work.
