Welcome to the new Daylight Voice Studio website!

Welcome to the new website for Daylight Voice Studio! It’s been a journey of discovery towards who I am called to serve as a voice teacher—the singer who longs for acceptance and joy when making vocal sound. For so many years, I have tried to be all things to all people—teaching singing to all ages and in all styles of music—while continually honing my skills in voice habilitation (creating best vocal habits, especially in those who have experienced injury) and learning more and more about teaching commercial music styles.

In the process of refocusing the studio, I had to do a lot of thought as to who my ideal voice student is.

My ideal client is:

  • Someone who loves to sing.

  • Someone who, like me, didn’t know there were options in studying the voice.

o   I grew up thinking that the only path I had was to study classical music.

o   I love classical music (Wagner on a midnight road trip, anyone?)—but there are so many amazing classical voice teachers out there that I don’t need to be one more.

  • Someone who doesn’t know how to trust their vocal instrument and wants some guidance.

  • Someone who perhaps has some issues with their voice and need assistance in being most effective and efficient in their communication choices.

  • Someone willing to commit to a set time frame and really go all in. Yes, I’d love for you to stay with me for a long time to come, but I understand this process is a resource-intensive investment and that there are/can be limits to both.

o   I have students who have been with me for years.

o   I have students who come for a short while and leave.

o   I have students who return at intervals for a tune up.

o   ALL of my students are important to me and receive my full attention while in the studio with me.

  • This means that the singer who I can best serve is you, the amazing human who loves to sing is ready to start exploring and singing with joy.

My strengths as a teacher are:

  • I believe in you, the singer in front of me. Your goals and dreams are what I am awesome at helping you both define and achieve.

  • Positive reinforcement is the name of the game. I don’t sugarcoat and say everything is awesome, but we are in a constant search for solutions and that means staying focused on what we want and your goals, not things that happen that aren’t what we’re going for.

  • I love learning and I love teaching. That means that I will figure out how say something, how to best approach a concept, in a way that works for you and that makes sense in your brain. I will be the first to admit if I don’t know something or if an approach isn’t working well for you. It’s my job to figure out how to help you, using approaches that work for you.

  • Silly is good. Fun is better. It’s called playing music for a reason. We are here to take ourselves seriously (vocal issues are no joke!), but if we are not enjoying ourselves, then why are we really doing this?

The new logo and website design come from the amazing Angela Winter at Awakened Creator. We had an amazing hour of meditation and discussion, defining who I am and my approach. We realized together that my superpower is my belief in you, the singer, and the energy I use to connect with others. Angela gave me lots of amazing ideas, starting from an image of stained glass that my high school best friend and I created in May 2023, and we have magic! Energy-related, heart-centered music, celebrating the entirety of the humanity in the room. That’s me. That’s us.
