Saturday Sing: June 27, 2020
Saturday Sing today is Times Like This from the musical Lucky Stiff by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, their first musical written together. I didn’t want to give away the “punch line,” but I just had to say that dogs have been a constant in my life as a source of companionship and comfort.
I was also inspired to sing this song, AND try “new” camera angles (two cameras! – they aren’t always synced, but….) by the NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) Conference presentation last night on Cabaret singing and the communication required. Shoutout to David Sabella (one of the co-presenters) who was one of the first people I ever met at a NATS conference and has been a consistent source of inspiration to me in my teaching, especially as the world moves online. Both he and my current teacher, Robert Sussuma, have been teaching online for the greater part of a decade, with great success.
