Instead, I must address what’s going on in our country and the explosion against the racial inequities upon which America was deliberately structured. The problem is systemic, and the system is working the way it was designed to work.

Educate yourself. Push your boundaries. If it feels uncomfortable, that’s because it is hard to look at people around you and know that they are systematically treated as other.

I acknowledge my privilege as a white, middle-class woman with multiple advanced college degrees.

I acknowledge that I have zero personal understanding or negative experience of systemic racism.

I acknowledge that I have only benefited from systemic racism.

It is up to me to educate myself about the reality of so many of my friends and colleagues.

It is up to me to be an anti-racist and to call out inequities.

My friends, I see you. I am working to find resources to educate myself. I support you. I stand with you.
